Formal International Blood Pacts on the Horizon

According to the Armed Services Blood Program, there will soon be blood-sharing agreements between the US and their allies to ensure life-saving measures can be taken in the event of a long-term war.

The agreements would be first-of-their-kind formalized agreements between the U.S. and allies, establishing assurances that the methods those countries use to collect, store and transport blood for military use meet U.S. standards.

The importance of access to whole blood at the site of trauma cannot be overemphasized, and with tools like these agreements and products like the APRU, those life-saving measures can much more easily be taken.
