The surgeons and others helping treat those on the frontlines of the Ukraine war have learned a lot, and they’re sharing their knowledge with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Clinical Congress 2022 in San Diego.
The use of whole blood is one particular thing that they spoke about at this event. This helped them to save lives using whole blood transfusions, helping those with severe blood loss. They also discussed the types of transportation they’re having to use, such as trains that take 2-3 days to get the patients to the hospital, making them think of creative solutions.
These types of findings for how to best treat those at the site of traumatic injury are exactly why we’ve created the APRU, to facilitate the transport of whole blood to the site of injury and to maintain the safe temperature for whole blood transport.
