Louisville EMS is proving that whole blood saves lives before patients reach the hospital. In just seven months, 57 units have been administered in the field—far surpassing expectations.

Erin Spyrka credits this success to strong partnerships with Louisville Metro EMS, American Red Cross, and tech innovators like 410 Medical and QinFlow. They’re also utilizing the Delta ICE2L Smart Blood Cooler, ensuring blood stays viable and ready when seconds count. A new collaboration with UL Health will further improve blood rotation and sustainability.
